Photographer’s remark
FM1983 Ex-RAAF CA-27 Sabre Mk32 A94-983, wearing RMAF Serial FM1983 (Cn CA27-83), being flown by CO 75 Sqn (WG WDR Tony Parer) shown South of Butterworth Malaysia (with Penang at rear) in July 1978. Parer had asked the Officer Commanding RMAF Base Butterworth whether he could obtain an ex-RAAF Sabre, which became surplus when the RMAF acquired F-5 Freedom Fighters. After an E Servicing (carried out over 12 months), the aircraft was flown briefly before it was grounded by Air Force HQ in Canberra. It was later shipped to No 2 Aircraft Depot at RAAF Richmond, and restored before its first public flying display as VH-PCM in Mar1981. I photographed VH-PCM at Nowra in 1986 and Richmond in 1988 and 1991. (1600 wide image.)
