Copy Photos From Airliners.net

Hi,

Airliners.net has a new feature that allows Airliners.net photographers to copy all their images from Airliners.net to MyAviation.net with a single click!

The system is intelligent enough to filter out duplicates in several ways. It knows if you already uploaded the exact same image to MyAviation.net and will not copy it here if that is the case.

Watermarked images will remain watermarked when shown on MyAviation.net.

Simply log in under Airliners.net's MyPhotos section and look for the MyAviation.net Features at the end of the index page. When you see the copy page, please read the information. Then it's just a one-click operation to copy them all!

Enjoy!

Regards,
Henrik

It is a good idea, but I would rather have the option to select what I want to copy rather than copy the lot over.

Most of the pics I have on a.net are already on myaviation.net, except for a couple so that means I will have to go and and delete the duplicates. Although it says it does that for you, but I usually upload first to myav and then later re edit for anet, so the photo shows the same aircraft but may be different file size etc.

You are correct, those images are not the same, and will be duplicates.

I will look into adding a "single image transfer" as soon as I get the time.

Hi Henrik,

We wrote sometime back about not being able to upload to MyAviation anymore despite being registered. You advised us to go to airliners.net and register there and then choose to have our pics go to MyAviation. Well, we registered on airliners.net and have a completely different username as it says ours was already taken. How can we make sure all of our pictures end up in the same group as they are now in MyAviation.net?

We have written several times and would really appreciate it if someone could please help us out!!

Best Regards,

Well, I have not seen themail from you, unless it has been answered already.

The username at Airliners.net is of no importance. The photographer name is the same as your "real name" in your Airliners.net profile, unless you have old photos at Airliners.net. Airliners.net will probably have this system changed soon.

Tha most important is that you have the same e-mail address as you already have on MyAviation.net. Then you will be able to handle photographer names yourself at MyAviation.net.

Henrik

Please contact support@airliners.net to have Airliners.net username related support. I guess though that the only thing you need to do is to edit your real name in the Airliners.net profile to have it be the same as your MyAviation.net photographer name. That is; you get the correct option when uploading.

Henrik

i tried exactly what you said like a month ago but it did not work at all. But i only want to change my photographer name on a.net, not here.

Is that possible?

Yes it is. Log into "myphotos" and request a name change.

Hello Henrik,

Thanks for answering my posts. I have almost got this figured out, I think?

I am finally able to reach the upload page for airliners.net and there is indeed an option at the bottom of the page to upload to MyAviation.Net rather than Airliners.net.

Our username and photographer name are different though. The email address is the same on both sites.

If I want our pics to be grouped with the existing photos we have on MyAviation.net, the email address will group our pics together?

In order to manage our pics better, we want to change our email address. Should we do this on MyAviation first and then perhaps delete the airliners.net membership and signup again with the same user's name as on MyAviation?

Thank you so much for your help!!

Best Regards,

Easiest would be to do it like this:

1. Edit your Airliners.net profile and change your e-mail and name so that you are satisfied.

2. Log in to myaviation.net and change your photographer name on all your photos to the one you want to use. It should be the same one as on Airliners.net.

3. Use our contact form to let us know what e-mail changes should be made on MyAviation.net for your photos. That way they will all be grouped correctly. It is very important you do the things in this order or your pics uploaded between the steps would become another "group" of photos.

Henrik

Hi Henrik,

Thank you very much for writing back and for helping out! Without your help, we would have probably quit by now... he hee We're getting closer to getting this sorted and I want to thank you for your time!

On the above:
1. I changed my email on Airliners.net and got a message in my email box that linked me to Airliners.net to complete the change. When I logged bak in to airliners.net my new email was there. YEAH!!

2. I changed the photographer name at airliners.net to match MyAviation.net name. But it has not changed as of yet. I believe the message said all photographer name changes have to be reviewed? Not sure..

3. My identity on MyAviation.net is perfect. Just want to change the email to match airliners.net at this point. Which email should I send it to?

Again, I am most appreciative for your help! We're getting close to sorting this out I think.?.? Just need to make sure my photographer name is same at both sites.

Best,
Britton

Hi,

1. Good. [Image unavailable]

2. Yes, they have to be reviewed due to some historical reasons.

3. Just use the contact link on our first page here at MyAviation.net.

Henrik

I did this a few days ago and noticed that the duplicate search failed. I just took a quick glance so far and noticed that my Air Canada Jazz CRJ-705 at SAN photo is now there twice with ID 00565395 and 00527575. It was originally updated with the A.net & MyAv option, and was accepted at A.net with ID 0989802.

Guess it's time for me to go in and remove the duplicates. And I was planning on processing and uploading some new photos from LAX this afternoon...

If the images are identical but the information on them has changed, they could be missed as duplicates. They then need to be removed manually.

Just a clarification; A photo can never be copied twice from Airliners.net to MyAviation.net. This because we keep track on which id's are copied. The good thing is that you can use the copy feature at any time, and we won't be flooeded with copies. Also info can change so they don't look identical, but they won't be copied once again to be duplicate. The negative is that once you delete it from MyAviation.net you can not copy it over once again, but need to upload from the beginning again.

Ok, that makes sense. The photos I had duplicated were uploaded to Airliners.net in the late 1990s. The information (comments especially) weren't the same when I later added them to MyAviation.

It took a few hours, but I was able to go through and get out the duplicates, or at least most of them. There might be a few left where it was would take too long to search through all 890 of my photos to find the dupes.

In my case, I shouldn't need to do the copy again, as I see no reason to upload to Airliners.net only. Most of my photos actually get the MyAviation only option, and those that I think might be accepted at Airliners.net have the both option checked.

Exactly how it should work. This prevents the Airliners.net queue from being too long and removes some unnecessary work for Airliners.net screeners.

Henrik
